NAIL ART TUTORIAL: POLKA-DOT PERIDOT
Almost all Chanel nail polishes become the ‘must-have’ nail polishes of the season. We’ve found ourselves searching different cities and different department stores for their latest it colour (ie. Jade, Perplex, Riva, Mimosa, etc) Chanel’s Peridot is a creamy gold/green multichrome with hints of blue, teal and deep purple. The polish was a great consistency, it covered our nails in two coats - not too thin and watery, and not too thick and heavy. The thing we loved most about Peridot is the finish. Usually with metallic colours streaks are unavoidable and difficult to deal with. Even though this colour is a multichrome metallic, there were no streaks and it applied evenly. Usually when Chanel releases a new polish, it is only a matter of days before a colour is created to mimic the look. We haven’t found any polishes in our collection that even come close to this colour. The only known dupe that we have heard of is Sephora’s Diving in Malaysia and is unavailable in Canada now. We highly recommend this polish, it is definitely worth the price tag. Because we loved the colour so much, we wanted to create a simple nail art design that wouldn’t overtake the finish – insert polka-dots! Polka dots are one of the easiest nail art designs that can be used in so many different ways to create patterns and designs.
Step 2: Using a dotting tool or a cut toothpick that has been filed, dip the base into a pool of China Glaze’s Liquid Leather. We thought black would be a great contrast to this beautiful colour, not taking away from it and adding a little extra. Add polka-dots at random, making sure to cover the whole nail. Add dots at the tips and sides so the design looks complete.
We may be hopping on the trend bandwagon with this polish, but we promise you it’s worth it. We’ve never had so many compliments from strangers on a colour before. Try polka-dots over you favourite colours – different coloured dots, two base colours, ombre polka-dots, there is so much you can do with a filed toothpick, we’d love to see what you come up with!
