NAIL ART TUTORIAL: PRETTY IN PINK
Day 2 of PYP’s Valentine’s edition is all about the colour pink. We wanted to create a nail art design that reminded us of the vintage valentines you see in print, but with an updated more modern look. Although we don’t have pointy/peak nails we still went for the heart tipped nails – these look cute with any nail shape & are perfect for adding to a plain manicure.
Step 1: After applying a base coat, paint nails with 2-3 coats of Essie -Fiji. This colour, as well as OPI – Mod About You, are our go-to pale pinks. Instead of having a natural tone, they have an almost chalk/whiteout quality that we love. We have a feeling you’ll be seeing a lot more of Essie – Fiji in Valentine tutorials.
Step 2: Once you base colour has dried, paint the top of hearts on the tips of each nail using Essie – Mod Squad. If you don’t feel comfortable using the larger bottle brush, first paint the outline of the heart using a small nail art brush & then fill in the colour. This bright pink pops perfectly against the pale pink.
Step 3: Using a dotting tool outline the inside of the heart using Sally Hansen – Whirlwind White, this gives the heart a doily/lace type look. To finish off the look we went over the design with Essie – Matte About You, the flat top coat completes this monochromatic design.
If you’re not a pink person, this nail art can be done in a variety of different colours and finishes – you can also add gems/studs in replace of polka dots. This nail art is fairly easy & you’ll find using the bottle brush becomes easier over time with practice. This weekend we are travelling to the US to hopefully bring back some goodies to share with all of you : )
