NAIL ART TUTORIAL: V-DAY DOTS
We enjoy a good polka dot, we don’t know if you’ve noticed….example a, example b & example c. So we thought it was time to renew our love. In today’s tutotial we bring you a Valentine’s Day inspired polka dot print tutorial. There are so many ways a simple dotting tool can be used to create designs that look much more complex than they actually are when broken down step-by-step.
Step 1: After applying a base coat, paint nails 2 coats of Misa – Valentine Red. We won this colour from Trade Secrets Misa nail art challenge. We encourage those who love trying nail art designs to look up contests – it’s surprising how many are out there & you may just win some great prizes. Misa – Valentine Red + Valentine theme = perfect match.
Step 2: Using a larger dotting tool dip in Sally Hansen – Whirlwind White, place 4 dots down the center of each nail. Repeat this step on both the right and left side of each nail to create 3 lines of larger polka dots.
Step 3: Now switching to a tiny dotting tool, place two dots from a top larger dot down to a middle larger dot. Repeat this all the way down the nail on each side to create a V like shape. Seal in the design with a good top coat once dried. To add a little more Valentine’s Day flair to this design, we placed pink nail studs down the center of each nail.
We love how this turned out – the design reminds us of a chandelier or a doily. V-Day dots do take a little more time and patience when placing each polka dot, but overall it is a fairly easy diy manicure. There are different variations that can be done with this design – add a gltiter top coat, keep it simple with no studs, or add some diamond/gems for some sparkle.
