SWATCH REVIEW: FINGER PAINTS – GUMDROPS & LOLLIPOPS
We are so excited to share with you Gumdrops & Lollipops, Finger Paints’ Spring line. If you follow us on twitter you’ll know just how often we visit out local Sally Beauty Supply – a little more often than we should. The last few FingerPaints collections have caught our eye and this one is no exception. We’ve picked our favourites and now it’s time to pick yours…
Lemon Sour – this colour is best described as a pale daisy yellow. It was a lot brighter in real life vs. the bottle where it appears more muted. This polish applied a bit thick (even for a creme) and we needed three coats to cover up brush streaks. The final product reminded us of all the great yellows that were a part last year’s fabulous yellow craze. Sunny tips = sunny days, right? Our fingers are crossed!
Circus Peanuts – we are suckers for great names and huge lovers of a good peach shade, so this is basically everything we love in a polish. At first we thought this orange creme polish would be a good dupe for Essie’s Tart Deco, but its pink undertone proved otherwise. Although the polish was a bit streaky when applying and needed three coats to achieve full opacity, we adore this colour and think it will be gracing our tips quite a few time this spring.
Choco Mint – this colour is almost a perfect dupe for China Glaze’s ‘For Audrey’ (but at a lower price – win!). This polish applied beautifully with only two coats and the final product was much more teal than advertised. We expected a pale green shade, but it has a distinct blue tone when applied. We aren’t complaining – we love this colour!
Blue Raspberry Taffy is a bright blue creme polish. The name describes this polish perfectly… it also makes us want a blue raspberry Airhead. Remember those? We think this is the perfect colour for summer and is currently on standby, ready to replace our darker royal blue shades. Two coats were applied to achieve full opacity as seen below. This shade reminds us of lighter version of OPI’s Ogre The Top Blue – trust us, one of these shades is a must for your collection this spring.
Pop Rock Pink is a jelly pink shimmer polish. It looks like most spring lines are including a pink jelly this year and we can definitely jump on board with that. This would be the perfect shade to take with you on vacation (somewhere with sun and sand). Three coats were applied to achieve the look below. We think the pink shimmers could even turn this polish into a fun topcoat.
Grape Gumball – we saved the best for last. Not too dark, but not too bright, we love this indigo purple shimmer shade. The formula was perfect and we could have gotten away with only one coat, however applied a second one to even things out. Silver micro shimmers really makes this colour pop – it will be a perfect shade to transition into spring with. We couldn’t find anything in our collections quite like it – a huge win for any nail polish collector.
What a fun collection! For fellow nail artists, this was such a cohesive collection – any colour can easily be combined to create something bright for Spring. Overall we really like the colour palate and think that there are a few ‘must-haves’ for spring. Let us know what you think about the FingerPaints ‘Gumdrops and Lollipops’ collection on Twitter and Facebook. The collection will be in stores this March, available at Sally Beauty Supply for the low price of $4.99.
