NAIL ART TUTORIAL: 3D KAWAII
We recently took a day trip to the largest Chinese indoor mall in North America – Pacific Mall, to check out all the nail goodies they would have. The trip did not disappoint! There were a ton of things we haven’t seen at any of our local beauty supply stores and we stocked up on 3D nail gems, new nail art brushes and some unique appliqués (score!). We may of shown a tad bit of excitement when we found the nail art used in today’s tutorial and we couldn’t wait to share them with you. Today’s super kawaii nails are as girly as can be, just how we like it.
Step 1: After applying a base coat, paint nails with 3 coats of Essie – Splash of Grenadine. We never get sick of this colour – a part of their Resort Collection, this magenta pink polish has a unique purple-ish undertone that always seems to get compliments (well deserved ones we think!).
Step 2: Now comes the fun part! Place 3D bright green bows on the base of each nail while the polish is still drying using a little nail glue to set in place. It might be more practical to add just one bow to an accent figure , but we thought this deserved an over the top look (also note the bright colours used).
Step 3: You definitely could have stopped at Step 2, but we wanted to add a little more to give more depth to the final product. Using a dotting tool create 3 rows of alternating polka dots using Orly – Green Apple & Sally Hansen – Whirlwind White. As always, seal in your design with Seche Vite top coat.
3D nails are so ridiculously over the top, and we couldn’t love them more! 3D decals add that special something to your average nail art – taking it to the next level. You can purchase them online or at your local Asian beauty market. We were so inspired by the nail art we saw at Pacific Mall, so expect more 3D designs soon! The Oscars are this weekend and we are so excited to see what the nominees will be wearing on their tips. Don’t forget to stay connected with PYP on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram & Pinterest – we’re on it all!
