NAIL ART TUTORIAL: FRESH WATER PEARLFECTION
Our love for nail art begin by flipping through Asian magazines in awe of the intricate designs they created. Our obsession even went as far as downloading a few apps (not in English) to get daily updates of designs. 3-D manicures are in a realm of their own – each design is time consuming and detail orientated, but result in beautiful over the top tips. We’d love to be as good as the girls in the magazines – using their nail art as inspiration mixed with a little practice & our own PYP spin, we tried our hand at another 3-D tutorial!
Step 1: After applying a base coat (we recently switched to CND – Toughen Up & we’re in love) paint nails with two coats of Chanel – April. One of us is born in April & the other in June, so Chanel’s latest April, May, June collection was basically a no brainer. This deep red mauve applied so smoothly, barely needing two coats.
Step 2: On our last trip to Pacific Mall we brought back some bows that we all loved - this time we went the fresh water route! We love venturing into the 3-D nail art world as it allows you to be even more creative coming up with your own individual design. Our pearl set came with 4 different sizes – start your design by placing the largest pearl at the middle of the base of your nail.
Step 3: Now,the fun part! Using the remaining 3 sizes, place pearls down the sides of your nail alternating spacing & size of pearls to create your design. Place a dot of top coat where you would like to place the pearl and using an orange stick, pick up and put your pearl in place, pushing down lightly to secure to nail.
If you have a difficult time using a nail art brush/pen try venturing out into 3-D nail art shapes – the larger the size the easier to apply and the less steady hand needed. The best part -the end result is still an impressive manicure! We think these pearls have a bridal/formal feel – perhaps this is the perfect design for an adventurous bride? We love how these turned out – the pearls remained on the nail with no causalities - a task that was a tad more difficult with the caviar manicure. Would you try 3D nail art, or do you like to play it a bit more on the safe side? Let us know what you think of our Fresh Water Pearlfection manicure on Twitter or Facebook!
