SWATCH REVIEW: ESSIE – BIKINI SO TEENY SUMMER 2012

We’ve been so impressed with this year’s Summer collections – with all these brights & neons there’s so much to love! Essie’s new Summer collection strays away from the path creating a summer palette that’s different than what we’ve been seeing – so refreshing! These polishes are perfect for the summer and are unlike anything we own & for polish addicts like us that pretty much never happens. We know you’ll be just as pumped about this line as we are, so enjoy!

Bikini So Teeny – This soft periwinkle shade has a subtle silver shimmer – it reminded us of a light version of the Tom’s Barefoot in Blue polish that we unfortunately could not get in Canada :(, so this was a nice substitute! The formula of this polish was great, creamy applying evenly in 2 coats.

Cascade Cool – A soft pearl/carnation pink – this colour is perfect for Prom, a wedding or to pop against tanned skin. We are always drawn to a good pale pink, so this shade is right up our alley. This reminded us of a lighter version Sweetpea from Color Club’s Blossoming collection this spring. Agree? We used 3 coats for full opacity in the pictures below.

All Tied Up – This shade is a combination of rose gold & a copper penny – a creamy rose shade with gold shimmer. This polish had the best formula of the collection – perfect consistency, applied evenly with just 2 coats. We own absolutely nothing like this – this shade has a a perfect mix of cream and shimmer, we love it!

Off The Shoulder - You can never have too many hot pinks. This bright pop of colour is a classic pink shade with a blue undertone. It applied evenly in 2 coats for full opacity. It reminds us of Barbie’s dream convertible! So many of the neon pinks we own are too obnoxious to be worn in the office and need to be saved for pedicures, but this one isn’t too bright and is finger nail friendly. Our bosses can expect to see more of this shade soon!

Fear or Desire – The spice of the collection – a vibrant bright orange. Although we have seen a few oranges this season, we welcome another addition to our collection. Orange nails are such a huge craze right now and we think this shade will be huge this summer. Orange nails pop against your basic bikini shades, becoming an accessory on their own.

Mojito Madness – Surprisingly we haven’t seen many bright Kelly greens for the summer. This shade is a little brighter than the wave of greens we saw a few years back and proves to be a rich shade, while also being fun and bright. This polish was our favourite of the collection – we haven’t taken it off since swatching! We used 2 coats for the pictures below.

What shade catches your eye? Which shade will you be sporting in your summer suit? Let us know what you think of Essie’s Summer 2012 collection on Twitter or Facebook & follow everything Essie is up to at @EssieCanada. The Essie – Summer collection will be in stores this June and available at your local beauty supply store for $9.99.

  8. Misty says:

Actually the only one that I didn’t buy was Cascade Cool becasue it reminds me of a Japanese Rose Garden by OPI.

  9. Kelli Nicole says:

    I love these!!!!

  10. Carolina says:

Love most of these though “All Tied Up” reminds me of an OPI Holland collection polish. I can’t remember which one it was but it reminds me.

  11. Rozae says:

Thanks for doing the lovely swatches, as soon as I saw the collection, I’ve been searching online to see if bloggers have done them. I feel the need for them all, however I was wondering if you can do a comparable swatch of the oranges from essie: Bazooka, Action, fear of desire or compare to Zoya: Arizona. Thank you much✿

  12. I luv off the shoulder!
