SWATCH REVIEW: MAC – FASHION SETS
It’s no secret that one of the largest emerging beauty trends will be the matching lip & polish. Just in time for this fabulous trend we introduce MAC Cosmetics latest line – Fashion Sets. The collection is packed with trendy, basic must-have colours and includes lip sticks, lip glasses and of course nail polish! Get one or get them all – these shades really don’t go out of style. All colors pack a big punch and suit all skin tones – no complaints there! See the rest of the shades - here.
Girl About Town - this bright blue fuschia creme is perfect for nails (& lips). This shade is tad darker than your average hot pink, making it perfect to transition into all seasons. The color applied evenly with just 2 coats for full opacity – we could have probably done one more coat, there’s some streaking we couldn’t see in real life.

Myth - Nude – our favourite! Not only did we rip open the package and start applying Myth lipstick, but we couldn’t wait to try the nail lacquer. If you’re a long time reader of our blog, you know how much we appreciate a good nude & we’re so glad to add another to our collection. The formula of this shade was a bit thinner than the others – taking 3 coats for full coverage. This shade has a pinkish undertone and is perfect for a nail art base with it’s creme formula (see below).

Russian Red – One of our all time favourite lipstick shades – a classic red that is perfect for the runway or a night out on the town. This has been our ‘go-to’ red for a few years – we fall in love with it again and again. We were so excited to see the shade turned into a polish. This is a mid-tone red with a creme formula – barely taking 2 coats for full opacity. A perfect pop of red if you ask us!

We wanted to incorporate these shades into a nail art design – Daily Double (we’re on a roll!)
Step 1: After applying a base coat, paint nails in 2 coats of Russian Red. Wait for your base shade to completely dry.
Step 2: Using nail art tape, place one strip down the centre of each nail, making sure to secure at the base and tip. Using the ombre technique (an obvious favourite of ours = here, here, here, here) steeple Myth down each nail, heavy on the tip.
Step 3: Once Myth has completely dried (wait a little extra then normal) peel off the nail tape strips. You should have a nice solid red line down the centre. We wanted to add a little extra to this design, so place silver studs lined down each centre. Seal in the design with a top coat and you’re finished!
We love a good classic shade & MAC’s Fashion Sets takes all of the guess work out of which one is right for you. The answer is all of them! The forumla of these polishes are great (cremes are a long-time favourite) – pick these up at your local MAC store. MAC Cosmetics Fashion Set collections are available now for $19.00.
