SWATCH REVIEW: ESSIE – MIRROR METALLICS

First things first, Essie has been killing it - their latest collections have been fresh, fun & filled with wonderful colours. They introduced their first full neon line Poppyrazzi , then gave us a summer collection to match with our swim wear - and now the piece de resistance, Mirror Metallics. We love how fashion forward metallics can be – on their own they can be both classic & edgy. All shades in the collection have this beautiful foil like quality, with a futuristic-luxe vibe. These mineral metallic shades all had an amazing formula – only needing one coat to cover the nail, we did a light second coat for pictures – so we don’t continually repeat ourselves, the formula was the same for all shades below. Most metallics have a harsh streaky application, we had a little bit of streaks but nothing too major.
No Place Like Chrome - this shade reflects a richly oxidized nickel. A classic silver with some depth, this colour will definitely be a staple in our nail art designs – we already tried it out just yesterday.

Blue Rhapsody - this cool metal blue is our favourite of the collection. It is rare to find a blue metallic, & even harder to find one that doesn’t remind you of 80s blue frosted shadow. This shade reminds us of a frosted nautical shade & we think will be the most coveted of the collection.

Nothing Else Metals - a gorgeous lilac alloy, this shade is perfect for those that like to stick with a more traditional girl palette – keeping a trusted shade purple, but adding a metallic flare. We can totally see this colour used for a Summer time wedding.

Penny Talk - this was a VERY close second for favourite, rose gold is so hard to get right in the nail polish world – its either too bronze, or too silvery pale – but Penny Talk gets it just right. This shade is such a great colour described as “statement-making incandescent copper” – it is sure to make people ask what shade you’re wearing.

Good as Gold - another metallic classic, this pure golden nugget shade is essential for any nail addicts collection. This shade is a little more honey-ish then deep yellow & we cant wait to rock it again over the holidays.

Essie’s Mirror Metallic collection is an amazing, luxurious palette of precious metals & is totally a game-changer for the company. We can not wait to see what they come up with next – a full collection of flakies? holos? bar glitter? Essie just keeps surprising us. The Mirror Metallic collection will be in stores this July, available at your local beauty supply store for $9.99.
