NAIL ART TUTORIAL: SCALLOPED EDGES
Here at PYP we try to draw inspiration from different outlets – wallpaper prints, clothing collections, etc. Today’s tutorial was inspired by a printed notebook we fell in love with. Filled with scalloped edges & great colours for the summer, this design is fairly easy once broken down into steps.
Step 1: After applying a base coat (we recommend CND – Toughen Up) paint nails 2 coats of a nice bright white – we used Sally Hansen Whirlwind White. This creates a great blank canvas to bring our design.
Step 3: Using Essie Big Spender, a lush red-violet creme that pops against the aqua & a larger dotting tool create a scalloped edge – about 5 points in total. We found it easiest to create a semi circle, like a larger half moons & add polka dots around the perimeter.
Step 4: Repeat Step 3 with your original shade, Sally Hansen Whirlwind White – this time use a smaller dotting tool for the perimeter, creating about 7 scallops for the outer edge. The top portion of the nail looked a little bare so we used a large dotting tool in Essie Big Spender to add a top scalloped edge to complete the look. Don’t forget your top coat (once it has completely dried)!
