SWATCH REVIEW – OPI OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL COLLECTION

OZ2

We’re off to see the Wizard! We were so excited when we heard OPI would be collaborating with the Oz the Great and Powerful movie. We are huge Wizard of Oz fans and could not wait to see what the brand would have in store for this line. The collection is not what we expected – filled with neutrals, sheer shades and silver/gold glitters. The polishes were designed to capture the magic and whimsy portrayed in the film. There are 7 shades in total, featuring one of OPI’s new liquid sand polishes. The movie isn’t out for a couple more months, but the polishes you can see the polishes now!

IMG_0185Glints of Glida –  ‘only a good witch could turn beige from bland to chic’ – this polish is a very sheer neutral shade with a slight tan underbase. We used 3 coats for the swatches below and there is still a visible nail line, not our favourite. This is the no-polish look a lot of people are after – a shiny very sheer nude. IMG_0178 IMG_0183

Which is Witch – this topcoat is a silver iridescent glitter with tiny bar and hexagon shape sparkles. We used 2 coats over top of Glints of Glinda. WOW the sparkle on this top coat, we couldn’t stop staring! We have quite the collection of silver iridescent glitters but this one just popped. It would look great over dark or light shades – perfect for any season!IMG_0187 IMG_0189 IMG_0193

Don’t Burst My Bubble –  this polish instantly reminded us of OPI – Bubble Bath but a tad darker. The sheer white polish has a hint of pink and is described as ‘puffs of clouds’. We use 3 coats of the swatches below.IMG_0198 IMG_0203

When Monkeys Fly – this shade felt the most out of the box for OPI and we love it! This glitter top coat is filled with large yellow gold hexagonal glitters and 2 different size smaller silver iridescent hexagonal glitters. We used 2 coats over top of Don’t Burst My Bubble. We liked how sparse the larger gold glitters distributed on the nail for a subtle look. The only con of this polish is that the large gold glitters are a bit of a thicker material.IMG_0207 IMG_0209

I Theodora You – ‘an adorable sheer pink that is bewitching’, this is the darkest of the 3 sheer shades. The polish dries in a soft blush. We are currently in one of our best friends weddings and this seems like the perfect bridal shade. We used 3 coats for the swatches below.IMG_0212 IMG_0216

Lights of Emerald City –  we fell in love with this glitter top coat right when we opened the collection. This polish is filled with large white square glitters and small clear iridescent square glitters. We layered two coats of this polish over top of I Theodora You.IMG_0222 IMG_0226

What Wizardy Is This – designed specifically for The Great Wizard – this liquid sand polish is a deep bronze shade with gold and mossgreen shimmer. This is the first liquid sand polish we’ve tried out and it’s so cool! The polish dries slightly matte with a pebble like texture that lightly shimmers the fine glitter particles. We used 2 coats for the swatches below. Another cool fact about this polish – no need for a top coat!IMG_0228 IMG_0234 IMG_0241

“When Monkeys Fly” is amazing. I love it! Thanks for posting the swatch. Any thoughts on the new liquid sand line?

The liquid sand polishes are great just make sure you buy a nail polish remover with acetone in because it removes it much better than the non acetone polishes. It is harder to remove than normal polish but if you use a base coat it stops the sand from getting stuck to your nails xx
