SWATCH REVIEW: ESSIE BRIDAL 2013

It’s that time of year again. As soon as the snow begins to melt, wedding season begins! Essie has released their annual bridal collection, and we are lusting over the 4 classic hues.  Last year their collection killed it,  featuring some amazing alternative shades to the standard nude/pinks we tend to see. Essie’s 2013 Bridal collection is inspired by floral hues with a hint of shimmer & shine.

Using My Maiden Name – This polish is inspired by blue Hydrangeas. We found the colour to be more medium purple, with an iridescent slight shine. This is a fun shade for a bride to wear that wants to branch out and try something different. We only needed two coats for full coverage.IMG_0919IMG_0920

Meet Me at the Altar – This polish is inspired by lilacs. This soft blue-toned pink reminded us of OPI’s – Steady as She Rose. The colour is deeper than a conventional baby pink with it’s blue undertones & subtle silver shimmer – great for darker skin tones. We used two coats for the pictures below. We also thought this polish had such a cute name!IMG_0908IMG_0906

No Baggage Please – Inspired by roses, this polish will have future brides running out to purchase it. This is a classic, on-trend soft baby pink with a subtle silver shimmer. This shade will appeal to brides that want to keep their look traditional on the big day. We used three coats for the pictures below – two coats covered but there was still a hint of visible nail line.IMG_0899IMG_0895

My Better Half –  Inspired by our favourite flower, the peony, this polish was our favourite of the collection. This polish has a nice pop of pink with a slight iridescent shine. My Better Half is totally something we can see ourselves wearing on the big day. It sticks with tradition but adds a little punch. We used two coats for full coverage.IMG_0913IMG_0914

What do you think of the Essie 2013 Bridal collection? These polishes are a great idea to bright as gifts for upcoming wedding & bridal showers. Even if you don’t have a ring on it, this collection is great for Spring/Summer for those that like to keep it classic with their nail colour. Tweet us your thoughts @PolishYouPretty @Essie @EssieCanada!

This polish will be available May 1, 2013. Essie can be purchased at Shopper’s Drug Mart, Walmart & other Essie retailers for $12.00 CAD.

  1. Using My Maiden Name is stunning… I may have to cave and spend the money for this one!

  2. I looove “No Baggage Please”! Beautiful colour! ;)

Really surprised me – when I saw the graphics for this collection I was sure it was all full of polishes I did not need and very dupable ones. But seeing your swatches I now want to pick up all but the blued pink one! Hopefully they will come out before May 1 – I want the My Better Half right now!

  4. Gorgeous! I just featured your swatch of Using My Maiden Name on my blog: http://swatchedsecondcity.wordpress.com/2013/03/30/color-trend-hydrangea-blue/. Thanks for the lovely swatches!

Thanks for posting these! I have been looking all over for swatches. I’m not sure how this compares to previous collections… I really like Using My Maiden Name, but it looks very similar to She’s Picture Perfect.. I wonder if they are dupes. The formula on meet me at the altar looks very hard to manage! My Better Half is very pretty. Thanks again!
